Conditions · What we are seeing
The diseases are not waiting for adulthood.
Diabetes with a family history, acid reflux, obesity, thyroid imbalance and PCOS are now routine findings in 11–16 year olds in our clinic. Malnutrition sits alongside them, sometimes in the same classroom. None of these is managed by advice alone — they are managed by what is on the plate tonight.
- Earlier onset
- Type 2 diabetes, fatty liver and PCOS are increasingly diagnosed in teenagers, especially with a family history and low activity.
- Two problems, one class
- Overweight and undernourished children often sit side by side; both can be short of iron, vitamin D and protein.
- Food is the controllable part
- Medicines are the doctor’s job. What is served, when and how much is the family’s — and it is where most progress happens.
- We work alongside your doctor
- We do not replace your paediatrician or endocrinologist. We follow their diagnosis and medicines and plan the food around them.
